About this Gatlinburg cabin
Buckhorn is a real log cabin rather than a new build dressed up as one. Log beds, antique pieces, wood everywhere you look, and a lived-in feel that most rentals in the Smokies have renovated straight out of themselves.
Two bedrooms, each with a king bed, and two full bathrooms. The living space is built around rustic antiques and cabin character. There is a full kitchen, wifi, a TV, and a laundry area, so a longer stay works as easily as a weekend.
Outside is where this one earns its keep. A private hot tub, a picnic table for meals and morning coffee, a grill beside it, and life-sized Jenga, Connect Four and Corn Hole set up in the yard. It is a cabin built for evenings outdoors rather than evenings on a phone.
The Greenbrier entrance to the national park is about five minutes away, which is the quiet side of the park most visitors never find. Rocky Top Sports World, the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community and downtown Gatlinburg are all an easy drive.

The access road is a mix
Well-maintained pavement in places, uneven surfaces and some potholes in others, then concrete near the cabin itself. A 4x4 is not required. In winter or icy conditions, 4x4 or all-wheel drive is recommended.
Finding it the first time
The cabin shares a no-outlet access road with three other cabins. Follow the concrete drive to the top of the hill and turn left — Buckhorn is the last cabin at the end. Worth reading once before you set off, especially arriving after dark.
Character over polish
This is an authentic log cabin with antique decor and a little wear. Clean, functional and comfortable, but not sleek or modern. Guests who want that find it charming; guests expecting a new build do not.
Two areas stay locked
You have full run of the cabin apart from an owner's closet used for supplies and maintenance, and the basement. Neither is part of the rental.
The hot tub is yours alone
It is private to the cabin, not shared. Used at your own risk, no glass nearby, and please put the cover back on when you are finished so it stays clean and hot for the next soak.
This is bear country
The cabin sits at the edge of the national park and bears pass through. Keep doors locked, never leave food in your car or outside, secure the trash, and check around you before walking out. A fed bear is a dead bear.
The hot tub and the yard games
Most cabins at this size give you a hot tub and stop there. Buckhorn has a whole outdoor setup — somewhere to soak, somewhere to eat, and something to do while dinner is on the grill.

Getting into the national park
Entry to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is free. A Park it Forward parking tag is required for any vehicle parked more than fifteen minutes anywhere in the park — $5 daily, $15 weekly or $40 annual. Tags are sold at Recreation.gov, any visitor center and the automated fee machines, and must match your license plate. An America the Beautiful pass does not cover it.
